Fitness Class Descriptions
Abs & Core/Muscle Toning & Core
Develop your core stability and overall muscle strength, with emphasis on proper body mechanics and exercise execution. This is a strength-based class, concentrating on various back and abdominal exercises, and does not include a cardio component.
Beginner Weights
This instructional class involves hands on learning in the gym. It is intended to provide information to those who have little or no experience using free weights and machines. Participants learn the basic principles of resistance training and attain a level of comfort working out in all sections of the gym.
Boot Camp
Get back to basic training! Join us for a fun and high-energy, total body workout. Using a variety of equipment and basic athletic drills, you will work on cardio conditioning, strength, agility, endurance and power.
Fusion
Join us for an invigorating combination of the disciplines of yoga, Pilates and fitness, providing deep muscle work, with stretching and relaxation. Taught by a licensed physiotherapist, this class emphasizes proper body alignment and balanced strength. A variety of equipment will be used, including the Bender Ball and Styrofoam roll.
Hatha Yoga
Learn how to perform basic yoga poses from a certified and experienced instructor. The focus is on adapting proper form, injury prevention and the release of stress and negativity through therapeutic breathing techniques. This class is friendly and welcoming; you will feel supported through your yoga journey. No previous yoga experience required.
Kasumba Aerobics
Blow off some steam and get your groove back; this class is funky for all levels! Fifty-five minutes of cardio, choreography and great beats. Dance steps may include salsa, cha-cha, belly dancing, samba and many more. You’ll have so much fun you’ll forget it’s exercise!
Spin Cycling
This class is perfect for anyone who can ride a bike! Newer cyclists are encouraged to work at their own pace while experienced riders drive to their limits! As a group you will travel through rolling hills, steep mountain climbs, fast, flat sections and you will cross the finish line as a group!
TRX Suspension Training
(TRX Circuit Training, TRX Total Body Conditioning, and TRX Body Blast)
We have three exciting classes to choose from which will challenge even the most elite athlete! Classes are taught in a group setting however each person trains at their own skill and fitness level. Emphasis is placed on developing balance, coordination, speed, agility, power and endurance. Learn how to break through all of your fitness barriers! Classes may also include cross training with spin bikes, medicine balls, steps and more.
Zumba® Toning
Zumba® Toning is a high energy cardio workout with Latin infused moves to create a dance fitness party that will burn calories and help tone those target areas.
Zumba ® Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies and raise their heart rates, all while having a total blast.
Specialty Dance Classes
Salsa/Bachata
Columbia’s most famous musical genre is actually a term for a number of musical rhythms, including porro and puya, with its essence in African percussion. It is a fun and flirtatious dance. In Bachata, the dance is primarily about the natural body movement and connecting yourself to your partner and to the music. It is not necessary to register with a partner.
Salsa/Merengue
Come and learn the hottest dance craze! Merengue is a rhythmic dance that exudes passion, love and friendship. This is a high-energy class that gets your heart rate up in a social and uplifting environment. The classes begin with footwork and basic dance moves geared towards club-style salsa dancing. The goal is to get everyone comfortable with the fundamentals of salsa and then apply them to the dance floor. Classes are fun and high energy but will not leave anyone behind. It is not necessary to register with a partner.
Hip Hop/Breaking
Geared towards teens that are interested in the latest styles of hip-hop, street, popping and strong drum rhythms. All levels of experience are welcome. It is a great way to spend a Friday evening! |
